The coaching staff hopes everyone had a great summer and is ready for a fantastic 2020-2021 season. There have been a lot of changes in the off-season and several that affect the upcoming season. Please use this site as a resource as well as www.Battlefieldswimming.com to stay up to date with those changes. In addition, all interested swimmers should send us your email contact information to so that you will receive team emails. I would like to remind everyone once again that concussion training is mandatory if you are planning to participate in high school sports in Prince William County.
Concussion Training –All athletes must complete the yearly concussion training as mandated by PWCS. If you are new to Battlefield, (Freshman or transfer student) you will need to physically attend one of the “Concussion training” seminars. You can find a listing of locations below, on the PWCS website, or on the Battlefieldswimming.com site. Both Parent and Student must attend. If a student has already attended the seminar in a previous year, the student and parent will still be required to complete an online concussion class for each year you plan to participate on a BHS team. Please attend the seminar or complete the online training well in advance of tryouts. Students that have not completed concussion training will not be permitted to participate in tryouts.
VHSL Sports Physical Form - In addition to concussion training, you will need to provide a current VHSL Sports Physical Form completed by your physician. A valid form will have been completed after May 1st, 2019. The form can be downloaded from the www.bobcatspride.org site under the "Quick Links" section. Students that do not have a valiid VHSL Sports Physical Form will not be permitted to participate in tryouts.
The swim season is coming quickly. Please make sure you have completed all your training well in advance of tryouts.
Practice Facility for 2020-2021 Season
The Coaching Staff is pleased to announce that we have moved practices to the Freedom Fitness & Aquatics Center. This change will provide a practice venue that will be more convenient for our coaches and swimmers. Our practice time will now change to PM. With this change, bus transportation to and from practice will NOT be provided.
DEC 14, 15, 16 and 17 at the Freedom Fitness and Aquatics Center. Swimmers will enter the facility through the patio entrance at 8:00. Tryouts will be between 8:15 and 9:15 each night. Temperature checks will be done. Tryout events schedule is as follows:
Dec 14 - Girls Try-out – 100 Free & 100 Butterfly 8:00 at Freedom Center
Dec 15 – Boys Try-out – 100 Free & 100 Butterfly 8:00 at Freedom Center
Dec 16 – Girls Try-out – 100 Back & 100 Breast 8:00 at Freedom Center
Dec 17 – Boys Try-out – 100 Back & 100 Breast 8:00 at Freedom Center
Before try-outs you will need to take your current VHSL physical form and your concussion training form to Mrs. Nelson (Athletic Trainer) after school and she will give you a yellow form. That form will need to be given to the coach prior to try-outs. Students will not be permitted to try-out without this form. Also, it is highly recommended that you turn you forms in well in advance of try-outs.
IMPACT Training - Once rosters have been finalized, swimmers and divers will be required to attend additional baseline testing as part of the concussion protocol. That date has not yet been set, but swimmers and divers will need to make arrangements to attend this testing.
