Bobcats,
We are excited to introduce a familiar face to our Boys Lacrosse Program. Coach David Suthers is eager to start the 2021 season as the new head coach of the Battlefield Boys' Varsity Lacrosse team. A longtime assistant coach to the Varsity and head coach of the JV team since 2009, Mr. Suthers is no stranger to the success and accolades that this amazing Varsity team has earned. Through the solid leadership roles created with the team, and the successful seasons by legacies of phenomenal players, the Boys Varsity Lacrosse team has made it to the state tournament, as well as having won multiple regional and district tournaments. Coach Suthers is excited to make his mark with a team that he knows is pumped to get back on the field to play.
Coach Suthers began his lacrosse career playing at Osbourn Park, where he was named All-Region Player of the Year as well as being named an All-American his senior year. While in college earning his Bachelor’s degree from Wingate University, Coach played and started with the Bulldogs all 4 years. He later received his Master’s degree in Special Education, which led him to Battlefield High School. Coach Suthers is currently a Special Education Teacher as well as one of the Athletic Leadership teachers here at BHS.
Coach Suthers has stated that his main goals as head coach, are to develop skilled players, while promoting good character traits, positive connections and encouraging the team to not only make an impact on the field, but with the school and community.
We look forward to seeing Coach Suthers out there leading our Boys Lacrosse program. Go Bobcats!
